OUR MINISTRY COMMITMENTS
With a heart bent toward fulfilling the Great Commission, we exercise six commitments that operate as our ministry distinctive.
Commitment to Prayer
Prayer is the track that our ministry runs on and the glue that connects each student to the heart of God.
Commitment to Evangelism & Discipleship
Club meetings are energetic, interactive, and fun environments designed to equip students to evangelize and to disciple their peers.
Commitment to International Expansion
Youth Commission embraces the Biblical mandate to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through international mission trips, students are given the opportunity to develop a sensitivity to and appreciation for other cultures.
Commitment to Student Leadership
All Youth Commission clubs are student-led and adult supported. Students organize, plan, lead and execute club meetings & activities. Parents, administrators, teachers, local pastors & adult mentors support students & help provide an organizational framework for each school club.
Commitment to Co-Labor for Christ
Youth Commission is a non-profit, non-denominational, non-political organization that values achieving the Great Commission through strong mutually beneficial partnerships.
Commitment to Outreach and Service
Youth Commission clubs have a strategic focus of taking Christ’s love to the community through outreach and service projects.
OUR HISTORY
For over 20 years, Youth Commission International has been at work to share the good news of Jesus Christ to middle and high school students.
APRIL 1997 - THE BEGINNING
Trusting that God could transform the city of Charlotte through youth, a group of Godly businessmen and women began meeting to pray for the next generation. The result of this movement: a group of high school students commissioned to love their classmates, live out the gospel and organize a Bible club before school on campus at Independence High School.
CAROLINA YOUTH COMMISSION
CYC was established to mobilize students to live on mission for God and reach their friends through the organization of student-led Bible clubs on middle and high school campuses. Students throughout North and South Carolina answered the call and took action starting and leading Christ-centered CYC clubs.
YOUTH COMMISSION INTERNATIONAL
As the ministry began to grow, the vision grew as well. Students from neighboring states launched clubs and our organization adopted the new name of YCI, Youth Commission International. Today, the ministry continues to grow, equipping, training, and commissioning students throughout North America as well as three African countries.
