Headshot of Troy Thornburg- YCI Coach

Troy Thornburg

Ministry Experience: 20+ years

troy@yciclubs.com

Troy has served in youth ministry since he was 20 years old, both as a volunteer and on staff. He's led student ministries at churches across Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and North Carolina, with groups ranging from five students to over 100 students and 30+ volunteers. Troy holds a double major in Bible and Youth Ministry/Preaching from Johnson University and an MA in Youth and Family Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

His coaching philosophy is rooted in Ephesians 4:12, "to equip the saints for the work of ministry." He loves walking alongside new youth pastors just getting their feet wet, and he equally loves encouraging veteran youth ministers who have seen it all and just need someone in their corner. Troy is especially helpful around burnout, volunteer recruitment and training, student leadership, and ministry strategy.

Troy lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife and three kids. A serial learner who loves the outdoors, he spends his weekends hiking, serving at his local church, and reading by a backyard campfire with a cup of coffee in hand.

Headshot Daniel Stevanus - Coach

Daniel Stevanus

Ministry Experience: 15+ years
daniel@yciclubs.com

Daniel has served in youth ministry on Long Island, NY and in South Carolina, leading student ministries of all sizes across three denominations and two countries. He started his full-time ministry career as a Middle School pastor (still his favorite age group), grew into a student ministry director role, and regularly preaches in "big church." Daniel holds a B.A. in Bible and Pastoral Ministries from Columbia International University and was ordained as a pastor in 2014.

His coaching style is highly relational. He sees coaching as being your biggest fan, ready to have honest conversations when needed, but 100% in your corner and rooting for you to win. Daniel loves coaching leaders who are eager to learn and grow, the kind of person open to whatever God might be showing them that's new, even when it challenges what they thought they knew. He's especially helpful around sermon planning, ministry strategy, and emotional intelligence, helping leaders not just do ministry better but lead themselves better, too.

Daniel lives in Lexington, SC. He's not married but does life with good friends and roommates, and stays close with family overseas. When he's not coaching, you'll find him cooking good food, DJing, riding his motorcycle, jumping into a Fortnite match, or grabbing sushi with friends.

Logan McElroy

Ministry Experience: 15+ years

404.944.1148

Logan has served in youth ministry across non-denominational, Christian Church, and Baptist churches, with several years in camp ministry along the way. He's led volunteer teams large and small, and helped grow a student ministry from 40-50 students to roughly 125. Logan has served as a student pastor and is currently Programming Director for YCI. He holds a bachelor's degree in Marketing from Georgia State University and has been commissioned (ordained) by the Christian Church.

His coaching style brings a healthy mix of truth and grace. He's your biggest cheerleader, ready to lend quality feedback and advice when it counts, even when the conversation is challenging. Logan loves coaching younger pastors, and has a special heart for veteran youth ministers who have seen some stuff and need a reset or re-ignition. He specializes in event programming and planning, calendaring, budgeting, and overall ministry vision casting.

Logan lives just outside Charlotte, NC with his wife and their four kids (two sets of twins), plus two cats, four chickens, and probably more chickens on the way. He's a diehard sports fan, rooting for the Atlanta Braves, Carolina Hurricanes, Atlanta Falcons, and Georgia State Panthers, and does play-by-play broadcasting for Queens University Baseball. When he's not working, you'll find him at the park with his kids.
